Restorative DentistryDentures
Dentures are removable oral prosthetics used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They can be either complete, replacing all teeth in an arch (upper or lower), or partial, replacing just a few teeth. Dentures are typically made from acrylic resin, or similar materials.
- Complete Dentures: These replace all teeth in a single jaw (upper or lower). They fit over the gum line and are held in place by the surrounding tissues.
- Partial Dentures: These replace only 1 or few missing teeth, may be using a metal framework with clasps, that attach to remaining natural teeth.
- Implant-supported Dentures: These dentures are supported by dental implants, which are surgically placed in the jawbone. This type of denture provides greater stability and can help prevent bone loss.
